St. Albert Tournament

Hello Team Unicorn

It has been a great first couple practices and we have a few things to go over:

1. Mark your calendars! We have been accepted into the St. Albert Turkey Ring tournament! We will be playing 2 games on Thanksgiving Monday, October 9.(As soon as we find out times we will send out an email)

2. Change in practice time tomorrow! We have a full ice practice tomorrow Saturday September 30th at Grant Fuhr at 10:30-11:30

3. We will be having a scrimmage during our practice on Sunday October 1st at 1:00-2:15 at Stu Barnes with the other Step 1 team. *Bring your jerseys

4. Dressing Rooms:

With 15 girls on the team, our dressing room is extremely crowded. I would like the following to happen:

The girls seem big enough to dress themselves with a little help.  I would like a couple volunteers (JR coach Alany, assistant coach Dawn, and a couple other volunteers) to help the kids get dressed and tie skates. No Male coaches, parents, or siblings in the dressing room unless you are appointed to that position. Parents can wait outside the room, to tie skates, or any thing else that may be needed.

By doing this it gives the players a chance to connect and develop as a team, both on and off the ice.

I would like all the unicorns ready and dressed at least 10 minutes before practices, and 20 minutes before games. At this point the male coaches can enter and have a short pre-practice/game meeting with the kids.

5. Practice Jerseys:

As Jeff said in the meeting, his company is going to supply the practice jerseys for the team. As a way to raise money for the team we are looking for a donation $200 or more to the team plus around $135 (cost of cresting) to get your company name/logo on the jersey.  Total of $335.

We would like to get this lined up ASAP. It usually takes about two weeks to get the jerseys made.

Note: The more sponsorships we get, the less we have to fundraise. If you have a connection to a company that would like to sponsor our team, please let us know.

6. Note to assistant coaches: Please see Nicole for a form to get your criminal record check done. The association would like these submitted ASAP.

7. Edmonton Oilers 50/50:

For the first time ever SGRA has been picked by the Edmonton Oilers community foundation to sell 50/50 tickets at the Tuesday, October 17 vs. Carolina Hurricanes game. They need our help. There are 58 volunteers needed and as of last night only 11 people have volunteered. If you are available that evening please please please sign up. Or if you know of someone that is 18 or older that would be interested (and responsible!) they can also volunteer.

You don't have to worry about driving because SGRA has that covered with a scheduled bus to and from Rogers. The bus will be leaving Spruce Grove NO LATER than 3:45, as we must be there by 4:30pm.

In order to sign up, the event is on ivolunteer http://sgra.ivolunteer.com/. The deadline to sign up is October 1 so please sign up today. Volunteers do not have to be members of SGRA. Anybody 18+ is welcome. Bring a friend. This does not count towards your bingo volunteer commitment.
