U16B Ringette Team Meeting Minutes

September 18, 2017

Welcome/Introductions:

Kim introduced coaching staff and team manager, parents introduced themselves and indicated who their player is.
Parents are in favor of a player card with jersey #â€™s and parent contact info. Mel will make cards.
Please monitor email, RAMP schedule for messages.Kimâ€™s goals for the season:
players to have fun and improve skills.
she is seeing great attitudes with the players and parents already.
she is open to feedback and wants to hear if there are any concerns from players or parents.
as the team has 11 players + goalie, she plans to affiliate from the U14 A & B teams as necessary.
please notify Kim & Mel as soon as possible if a player will be absent from practice or game.
intends to provide support for the players as much as possible, dryland fitness, Kevin Horbasenko to goalie coach, will affiliate U14B goalie if/as needed.Parent Volunteers:

- It is noted that typically coaches are not expected to volunteer for other positions, Pam indicated that since Don is coaching and she is social coordinator, the Geddes family will not be put into the Timekeeper/Shot clock rotation.
Lindsay Oulette will assist on ice if needed and as schedule allowsFundraising/Sponsorship

Lindsay and Mel will set up bank account at Servus Credit Union for team on Thurs. Sept. 21, 2017.
Seed cheques $200 to be given to Treasurer as soon as account is set up to fund tournament entry fees.
SGRA fundraising is for individual player credits and the association as a whole.
Bottle drive suggested as possible fundraising event.
Shannon and Lindsay will check into possible sponsors.
Tournaments:

Parents in favor of 3 tournaments, one of which is the SGRA Sweetheart Winter tournament on Dec. 8-9, 2017.
Group would like to look at an October tournament, discussion around the St. Albert Turkey Ring tournament, but Coach Kim is working and is not available that weekend.
Calgary Esso Golden Ring tournament is the preferred â€œawayâ€ tournament, Jan. 19-21, 2018.
Shannon will review available tournaments and inform team of options and any confirmations.
Team activities:

Team captain(s) will be selected by the team in the near future.
Players are responsible for their own jerseys (Mel will obtain jerseys from the SGRA equipment director asap).
SGRA Galaxyland Special Event: Fri. Sept. 29, 2017 from 7:30-10:30pm. Possibly have players meet for dinner prior to the event. It is noted that several players may not be able to attend due to other commitments.
Team apparel: Kim to discuss with players a team name, possible logo and preferred color for hoodie &/ or warm up shirt and practice jerseys.Practices:
We are waiting on the regular season schedule, this information will be forwarded as soon as possible.
